This weekend, a small gathering of VWs was seen at an up and coming (I hope) event in central Georgia called Bugs in the Woods Jamboree. This was the second year and I believe only 7 VWs showed up. Three Bugs and four buses. Below are pictures of the camping scene...

What's the best way to power some Christmas lights inside a car? I wanted to take my wagon out camping and hang some lights inside the back without draining my battery

I just bought battery powered Christmas lights. They were about $6 at Home Depot and flash or stay on steady and they are multi-coloured or white. I can use a regular set of lights as I have an inverter and a solar panel powering other things in the bus. But I just figured to use these.

LED xmas light strings use very little power so can run right off the battery without killing it on you - but you need to google for 12v (obviously). They exist and are cheap but without as much variety. No chili-peppers or little reindeer. Wire them up to the cig lighter.

Here is the first hit I got - no affiliation or experience. http://www.christmas-light-source.com/12-Volt-LED-Lights_c_253.html $10, looks like 1.2w per 10 foot (20ct) of lights for the bright white ones.

Alternately, you can just use the 120v LEDs with a cheap 100w inverter. The lights use the same power but the inverter itself uses more than that just running it's fan.

Cool. Where were you guys? My friends and I biked from Warner Robins down to GA Veteran's state park and camped Saturday night. It was a great weekend to be outdoors.
