Or do I need one? Definitely an upgrade from stock, if I can make them work.
I stopped at a friends house today to help get his old civic started, and mentioned that I started pricing HID projectors for the P71, and wasn't liking it. He disappeared into the garage and handed me these.

I guess there was a recall at some point when he worked at the Infinity dealership, so he wound up with a few sets for no charge from work. Just gave them to me because he isn't going to put them on any of his current vehicles.
Are these a hit to my challenge budget, and if so, how much?
I just got home and came here, I'm heading to google and ebay now to check on parts numbers.
Nissan/Infinity D2S or D2R, with sockets and bulbs. Used ballasts are presently $69 on ebay...
I argue that headlamps are safety equipment
I want to say that, and also that I won't really be needing them at the challenge unless we're autocrossing at night.
But being an upgrade from stock, and I'm not sure how custom I'm going to have to get with mounting and aiming, I wanted to get some others opinions. I'll probably be looking for a set of housings soon so I'm not chopping up my current lights to install them, which could bump the hit up more, just trying to cover my bases.
I honestly wouldnt care if you assigned $0. It's more for a better lighting at night for street driving thing than a performance tweak. I don't night drive my challenge car so it didnt matter than i had one functional headlamp, except it got kinda dark at the top end of the dragstrip slowing down from 120+
Plus it sounds like recalled parts for free from the dealer dumpster is equivalent to my buddy picking up some metal from the trash on the way to my house and leaving it in the driveway for me
Recalled parts scavenged from trash should be $0.
