Car Alarms and why mine keeps going off

So, my car alarm keeps going off. It always happens on the weekend too. Im not too paranoid but mine has been set all week and nothing. Today it keeps going off...again.

Thoughts?

Factory or aftermarket? Some factory systems with separate batteries will do this when those batteries start to die.

Factory, i did replace the battery very recently. It worked for a week and then...the weekend it went off.

Its odd because it only happens on weekends in this location

What kind of car? Figure out if it has a shock sensor or if it's just looking for doors opening. Check where the door pins meet the door, it's common for people to slam the door shut on a seatbelt buckle and dent the door, making the door pins have intermittent contact with the door closed.

I once owned a real nice Tundra XSP that the PO had installed an alarm in. Never again.  Good luck.

Funny too....because other alarms are going off in the neighborhood randomly

Looks like the remote comes with a panic button. I wonder if there is something nearby that is emitting a matching rf signal. 

If I was a nefarious youth, looking to id some potential cars to break into, and knew the frequency for most common car security systems, I might drive around with something that transmits at that frequency to see what cars in an area respond. Come back frequently and set them off so the car owners eventually get frustrated and leave their car disarmed, making them an easy target.

Kinda what im thinking. Nothing in the car and its sitting on a busy street though

One time I could track the would-be car thief through the neighborhood by where the car alarm was going off.  Perps will pull door handles until they find one unlocked.

I routinely set off the alarm on my car with the panic button on the remote in my pocket.  I guess I lean against something and it pushes it.

I have done that but its going off with the keys sitting on the table with nothing being touched

If there are more than one car going off in the neighborhood, it could be teens, a would be thief, or even a car with just the right exhaust note. It doesn't need to be loud, just the right note. I had a fiat 124 with a monza exhaust that would set off alarms all the time. I used to really annoy one guy in the parking lot at work, I would always set off when I came in

Some previous owner installed a car alarm in my car and I hate it.  I never use it but it randomly decides to arm itself.  The last time I finally ripped the wires out of the siren under the hood so at least I don't have to listen to it while I fumble for the key fob.

That kinda makes sense in a way since it could be someones weekend toy harley/car although i couldnt tell you which car it is since to me its pretty random
