I don't think one thousand mile trip down the freeway is any worse than one hundred ten mile trips. I wouldn't worry about for the trip.

Isn't this whole question the result of "trip Anxiety"? If you drive 15K miles a year, what difference does it make if you put the bra on for the one time where you're doing a couple thousand miles in one week? Aren't miles just miles?

Wow, way to come out and call me and others "poor" because we don't have cars "nice enough to wrap". Aside from all that baloney, yeah, in real life I would still be able to tell that GT3 has been wrapped. There's no way even your most "high-end" film has the same luster, glossiness, and depth as the actual paint/clearcoat.

Look for Rejex from the RV places, or better online. It was by far the best I used on the front of a motorhome. Liquid wax type product.

I assume that when they get to the dealer that stuff is peeled off and thrown away; is there a chance it can be re-used? May be worth a conversation with your local dealer to see if you can get some and try it out.

I used to work at a car dealer...that stuff rips into 6000 tiny pieces more often than not, and when you do get it to peel off neatly, it immediately static clings to itself and then won't come undone again, a la clear packing tape.

I would just use painter's tape if you're that worried. Cheap, easy to put on, won't leave residue, and won't ruin your paint.

My installs all come off with no problem, which is why I charge as much to remove someone elses install as I do to put one on. 3M is horrible to take off which is what it sounds like you were removing. There's still technique to taking it off to minimize ripping and left behind glue.

And how much would you charge to wrap the front bumper and hood of a 2011 Mustang? Just curious...

Typically between $600-800 depending on coverage. For $2200 he better be doing the entire front clip and the rockers. That does seem very high. My full front price ranges between $1000 (MINI) and $1500. Maybe he has high overhead and only does a few a month? The mustang's bumper does use a lot of film so it's a bit more expensive. They aren't that difficult to do though....the last Shelby I did took me about 2 hours.

Yes a paint job is "cheaper", but I've never in almost 10 years heard of anybody who turned down a clear bra who said that and actually painted their front end and I've yet to see a reasonably priced repaint look anything like factory paint.
