Like the title says, our friendly RSX was peacefully parked on the street last night, until someone decided to blast the passenger side window out. This morning we walked outside and saw the beautiful array of shattered glass, neatly strewn about the ground. I looked around the interior and the only thing missing was the owner's manual. The valet key is in the house, and all of the insurance and registration stuff was left. Why in the world would someone want just take the owner's manual? Granted it was leather bound . Maybe it was a not-so-fun scavenger hunt.

The worst part about it was that I kinda woke up last night, because I heard a noise, followed by the sound of a fart can 4 cylinder taking off. Now I have imaginary thoughts of me diving off my balcony at 3 am, and thwarting the escape of these miscreants. Instead, I rolled over and went back to sleep. Even worse than this is that broken glass seems to go EVERYWHERE and I'll probably have bloody assed passengers for the next few months.

It's the trophy that allows the E36 M3-head to brag to his E36 M3-head friends.

The glass does suck to clean out. Sticky tape will get out the stuff that a vacuum leaves behind.

I'm guessing you keep an empty car. They probably took it hoping you had an emergency credit card or something in there.

I can say that after having vehicles broken into and our house broken into that I now get up and out investigate any out of place noise, down to knowing the sounds of our neighbors cars and checking to see what's going on if I hear it idling for more than about 30 seconds.

Sorry, you'll find glass under the seat 2 years from now.

Sorry to hear about your break-in, I hate that stuff. Even if you had witnessed it happening, what you did is the best possible outcome. Catching some piece of E36 M3 thief is not worth getting shot or driven over. People are all amped up when they do E36 M3 like that and cornering them has bad outcomes.

Good luck on the clean up and recovery.

Well now that the thief knows how to fold down the back seats in their RSX they can fit bigger things in it. Moving up the food chain!

Sorry to hear that. Broken glass sucks.

Yeah, you're right as they've already proven that they have no regard for their fellow human. But it would be cool to see the car they were driving-in/get plates, track it down and then have an officer join me for a "hello". I would smash my own window for that type of revenge!

It's funny because somebody stole my bicycle lights about a month ago and I was just as pissed. Violation is violation

Might your owners manual have a vin or a replacement key code? Possibly to get a key made and come back to take the whole car quietly!

Locally we had a lot of odd break-ins to cars where they targeted GPS units and garage door openers. Common places were movie theaters, sporting events and boat ramps. They would just hit HOME on the GPS and head over to clean out the house. They got caught after about 5 hits by a granny with a gun.

Look at it this way -- there are lots of worse reasons you could have bloody-assed passengers.
