I'm considering a different DD car soon. I'm looking at either a 1st gen TSX or 1st gen Mazda3 hatch. I have a Honda that's been easy to own and there is a dealer a couple of miles from where I work where I bought the car from. I've taken it there for a timing belt change and a few other things that I can't do myself and their great. It is very convenient. There is not a Mazda dealer (or many other car companies that I am also considering) close by at all. I'm not buying new so the warranty would be up or close to being up. I'm concerned that if I have a car without a dealer close by that I would regret it, especially if there is some warranty left or for a recall. I can fix some things myself as well as regular maintenance, but I'm no mechanic. I guess I could find an independent mechanic locally. What do you guy's think? Does this situation keep you from buying certain cars or steer you toward's other cars? Should I stick with a Honda/Acura in my situation?

Where I live, used TSXs command like 2x the price of used 3s, but I digress...

1st gen TSXs and 3s are getting pretty long in the tooth. I wouldn't count on any new recalls and any warranty is almost definitely gone by now. Indie mechanics are generally more trustworthy and cheaper anyway.
