This 2002 Mazda Protegé was purchased new from Mazda as a body-in-white with one intention in mind: racing. The original builder spent more than $60,000 on the car. The Protegé made its SCCA SPEED World Challenge debut at the 2004 season opener at Sebring, but from what we can tell that would be its only pro race.
