Unfortunately, they have not. Even though no one has paid attention to one since 1987.

We always said it stood for Assorted Plastic Crap.

I miss these, but mainly because they were so nicely made.
IIRC, that model came out in 1986 so, technically, it’s too new for our ’84 911 but, yeah, it does look good. Timeless, even.
I have a larger radar detector from 1984 and need to find a windshield mount for it.
Anything in here. Generic car parts that "fit" but not really. Good ol' jc whitney. With a cavalier sport compact.

I think this one's the winner. I can't think of the last time I saw some.
They look good, though. Can’t see them being terribly legal, though. (See also: We sold a ton of those BITD.)

This is what you need for the 911. It's going in the CRX someday.
How about the pre-FnF 90's import trend of offset racing stripes, one fat one and one skinny one?
I'm trying to find an image but if your searching for something that isn't a currently-available online product to buy, Google image search results seem to get worse, fewer, and less-pertinent by the day. Perhaps I should dig up an old TMR 'zine, Sport Compact Car or Super Street magazine and scan a photo.

Umm...
I came up with that layout for our NDs. It's been knocked off now and you can buy them on Etsy.

I have zero sympathy for people that rock those on tail lights or tint their tail lights and then get rear ended because no one can see their brake lights lol.

That goes back to the 60s or 50s or earlier. The stripe goes on the side with the driver, so emergency response knows if the vehicle is left or right hand drive.
Makes me laugh when people put it on the wrong side. It's like putting bar-ends on a mountain bike and pointing them straight up.
Except for wing windows, I do not see a downside to anything you guys are saying faded. Most of it deserves to be in the dustbin of history.

Nothing new under the sun...
I'm not claiming I invented the thick and thin stripe, although the offset tapered points I'll take credit for :) Just not so sure it's something you never see anymore, at least not in the Miata community. Heck, the grey car was at SEMA with those stripes.
Back when I was striping my car in the 90s, I used centered stripes :)
I don't know how strong a trend this was, but I haven't seen colored tails for a while. These are legit Hella tails that were DOT legal.

are you pro or con for the triangle flip glass like in so many older cars and trucks?
I love em!

At least proximity alarms seem to have faded away. I remember walking through parking lots and hearing "This car protected by Viper. Stand back!"

100% pro
New vehicles are not designed to have the AC go out. From the wing windows to the seats, to anything.
My truck has two options, an automatic and AC. One of those options goes out and you're screwed, but I drove without the other for more than a decade with minimal complaints. Drove without AC in a ND Miata for a month and hated everyone and everything

I think they're cool. But I don't like the lack of waterproofness or the difficulty in repair. I tried to put new seals in my 62 Comet and I gave up. I liked them enough on my Beetle because my windows didn't roll down(thanks dad) but water came in when it rained sideways(common here).
