Last May, I had the pleasure of having my car involved in the making of a movie. I was on set for 8 days and had a blast. The movie was Anchorman 2 and it came out this past Wednesday. I went to see it and was surprised, and a little thrilled, about it being in the final cut. In fact, I saw it in there about 5 times. I know it's not a "fame" thing, but was it still pretty cool to see the car up there. Just wanted to share.
This shot ended up being in it as well as a straight-on scene.

I may get flamed for this, but I can't stand Will Ferrell. I'll watch this movie for a cool old Honda, though. 8)
I will be looking for your Civic.
Awesome!
I'll wait until its out on PPV, but I definitely will be on the lookout!

Me either, has never played anything other than the exact same guy and does a poor job at that despite all the practice.
Awesome civic though,I haven't seen one in years and years, they simply dissolved up here in the salt belt
Cool! Looks like I can Watch it Free Online, too!
Congratulations on getting your Honda in the movies! I'll look for it .
The orange license plates suggest that scene was supposed to be in New York back in the 70's -80's??
Realistically NY taxis should be completely full of lumpy bondo and the bumpers should be dull and dented beyond repair.
Thanks, folks.
And yes, RealMiniDriver and kevlarcorolla, I'm not a huge fan of Ferrell's work. He's done some good stuff and he is good at what he does, I'm just not a fan.
SyntheticBlinkerFluid. I have a ranking system for movies, lolol. They are Theatre, Pay-Per-View, Redbox and Netflix. In my opinion, this movie is Redbox at best. Hell I never even saw the first one until after I got through with filming of part 2 this past May.
fujioko. The two scenes that my car were filmed in were taking place in New York City and San Diego. I think there may have been one spot in the San Diego highway scene, but it was too quick to tell. I had California blue plates on my car for that. The scene above is from New York and I do have New York plates.

How were you contacted? Are you listed somewhere as being available for movie work? I ask because my son has a '64 Caddy convertible in great shape that I think could be appreciated by movie folks.
That's pretty fun. I don't suppose you had a GRM sticker on the bumper, did you?
Congrats on making it into the movie. I watched part of the filming they did on Park Ave one morning. It was cool seeing what had to be dozens of those old taxis and cars driving around.
Cool. I'll keep an eye out.
To Wally. It was definitely a fun experience. I had more fun doing this one than the other one, but still excited to see the other when it comes out.

I first saw an ad back in the spring of 2012 where cars of a certain timeline were needed for background cars for a movie titled Devil's Knot. They were filming pretty close to where I live so I went down there and had a few scenes with it. After that, I got an E-mail from an acquaintance about needing period correct cars for this movie (Anchorman 2) and submitted my car in. I'll grab a link to a few casting agencies and send them your way. If you don't mind, where in this world are you (or your son) located, if you don't mind me asking? You can PM if you wish.

Yes, NYC in 1980.
It was a better movie than the first. Actually took some really good shots at the current state of "news" and 24-hour news channels. I have some friends in the TV news industry and it killed them.

I was thinking the NYC taxi's were mostly Checkers?
*at that time...
Car looks great. I have to admit I've never seen a Honda that old irl. Problly like 85 is the oldest I can remember seeing. Sometimes I hate living in pa lol. Are the fender mirrors stock? I love them. Oh an I will defiantly see this movie, yes will Ferrell usually plays the same character, but it still cracks me up. I could watch step brothers 1000000 times and still laugh.
Anything big and yellow had a shot as a NYC Taxi
As did anything diesel during the fuel crunch
Who did the driving of your car?

Thank you, nepa. I drive mine everywhere. After we went to the theatre, we went downtown (Atlanta) and ate at a burger joint. I love to drive my car and drive it wherever I go just to keep it on the road because many people don't see these old cars anymore.

It was actually me who drove it. Every scene my car was in, I was behind the wheel. We all had 2 way radios so that the PC coordinator could tell us how/when/where to proceed.

I met you and the Civic at the Mitty a few years ago, glad you still have her and fantastic that she made the movie, congratulations
