Honda S2000 or classic Firebird (67-73)
mini
there is an M6 first gen on Bring a Trailer right now, I really want.
Another TR-7
an NSX...I might be able to afford an early one.
Drewsifer wrote: Depending on what mood I'm in, I'm usually lusting for an NSX, A 951, or 964. But I know I'll be doomed if I get any of them.
I can honestly say that my 964 has been pretty damn cheap to own and a blast to drive. I've had it a year (13k miles) and have only changed the oil, plugs, pads and fixed a few electrical odds and ends caused by a previous owner's poor wiring practices (stereo tapped off ofthe AC circuit sort of mess). I have been pretty surprised to find things like rotors for $40 and new oil coolers comparable to aftermarket ones. My biggest regret is the color red.
My main issue thus far has been I blew out the master cylinder (user error) and the new one was $1900. Before you freak... I was able to buy a reman for $500 but chose to go with having a machine shop re-bore and sleeve it with bronze for $275. Its all about knowing where to go for things.
I lust after a lot of cars... but the Exige is the one that keeps ending up on my wallpaper. I know its useless for everything but track days. I know its not really even possible to drive it on the roads around here. I am pretty sure its going to catch fire and burn to the ground, possibly taking my whole house with it.
I still shop for one every day. A matte black S with track package in case you are wondering.
"Free Miata- Just body, come and get it."
On Killeen CL... I want to, but really really shouldn't. I've got a soft spot for Miatas.
XJ-R
Can be had for $7k all day long. Just look at it. It would be a cruel mistress though, always going back to the salon for some touch-up work and sticking me with the bill. The kind of car that elicits gasps of ecstasy, but more often screams of hatred. It would be like dating my old high school girlfriend again.

I've got a nice roadster for sale...

So you can afford that, huh? I want your career! EFF this design shiz!
I just want more MR2s, but the wifey will start wielding cutlery in an unfriendly manner.

+1 to that....heck +1,000. Another thing I've been shopping for on and off for a decade is a M-715, swap in a cummins 6BT and giddyup!!
renault fuego turbo
i desperately want one, and they come up for sale once or twice a year, but whenever one does come up i have to hold back.

a knock off one, just buy a Scorpion and make a kit...
With a second kid on the way, I've been seriously considering a 540i. I particularly like the classic looks of the E34s.
But I'd probably have to sell one of my kids to afford the repair costs, which puts me back to only one kid, which means I wouldn't need the 5-series.
Circular logic makes me dizzy.
Ooof! Nearly all of them! I could afford a lot more car than I have now, but I chose to buy a house instead and stick with no car payments and cheap to maintain cars (Grand Prix GT, RX7, P71, Hornet). If I had my way it would read G8 GXP, LS1 FC, Genesis Coupe 3.8GT, Mark Donohue Javelin. Ok, ok, and the Hornet.

After all the crap with the Swift over the last year.... My wife would off me in a very violent way ifI was to even MENTION the thought of picking up a vette....
the answer is always miata...
actually one car i was looking pretty hard at and have come to grips with the fact that it would completely suck to drive all the time is a saturn sky/pontiac solstice twin. problem is i travel a lot for work, and there is no way all of my stuff will fit in the trunk. the thing is tiny!
a more realistic "want it but do i really?" is a Jeep TJ. i passed on a 97 for 4k before buying the truck, and kinda wish i hadn't
+1 on Europa... but I discovered this summer that I don't fit in one!
I have always wanted an e-Type Jag. and I could stretch that to include an XK 8, but cost of ownership vs. cost of purchase is the sticking point!
I too will answer "all of them" but the voice in my head (that sounds like Dave Ramsey) tells me not to. Therefore I continue on with a '90 Miata that has been paid off for over 12 years now and a Volvo 850 wagon bought for $4k about 4 years ago.
I do have some cash redily available and it is just burning a whole in my pocket. The hot items of it's affection are a Mk1 GTI, BMW E30, Mk1 MR2 or any one of another trillion cars that peak my fancy on any given day.
Aside from that, If I was to forgo the Ramsey advise, i think it would be an Elise for me and I would plan to keep it for the rest of my life.
Testarossa. A nice used one can be had for 40k or so, but the maintenance worries me. I'd rather have a Countach, but they are out of reach. And yes I watched where top gear had a Countach on, and I do think the show is funny, but I could care less what they say about the Countach....I still want one.
Also, mid 80s 911 Turbo, but I don't want to sell my NA 911 and can't see keeping both.
late 80s early 90s Suburban with a mild lift and 33s. I would like one of these for camping and towing my dirtbikes. I'm pretty sure when you take out the 3rd seat and fold up the second row the burb will fit a nice sized air mattress. Then we could sleep in the burb and ditch the tent.
MKII Supra. I had one and loved it, but it caught on fire and burned. I'll get another someday. I actually liked the MKII better than my MKIV.
Porsche 928. I just love the headlights.
GNX Grand National
Z06 Corvette
Viper
59 Cadillac hearse
Edit: I've got to add early 90s Bentley Turbo R. These days they can be had all day long for 20-30k. I even saw one on ebay with a buy it now of 17k! Looked like a clean low mileage car and I couldn't see any reason for it being so cheap.
I could go on for days on this subject
In reply to Cotton:
they make air mattresses shaped to fit in the back of a truck. there might be one that fits in back of a sub as well
and + 11ty to all of those
