How do you guys remove carbon from the combustion chamber. I have the heads off. TIA.

From the head, wire wheel. Purple degreaser works well once the heavy stuff is off and rinses off with water.

Oven cleaner works too, but don't let it linger on aluminum. The cheap oven cleaner etches worse.  I use Easy Off.

Caution: It dissolves carbon; YOU are a carbon-based life form.

Harbor Freight soda blaster. Takes it right off with no effort and doesn't damage the substrate.

Don’t worry about it.

I'm in the same sitch.  I have a pair of TrickFlow heads with a thin layer of carbon on the valves, and I can't decide whether to ignore it, or disassemble and clean them before installing.
