I'm in the process of installing a Cobra 75 in the Miata. The head unit is out and I've replaced the factory FM antenna with a fiberglass antenna. Without the AM/FM I wanted to have the weather radio function so that I don't have to rely completely on my phone during trips. I've heard some people use CB to communicate on cruises, I don't know how common that is.

I'd like to know, if you have a radio in your vehicle besides AM/FM, what type of radio is it and is it actually useful?

The factory radio in my 1988 BMW has a weather band in addition to AM and FM, I don't know if any modern radios have that.

On a trip from MA to PA we got a lot of entertainment and good traffic info from the truckers. Can’t recall the model CB but it was a Cobra.

There are AM/FM/weather band head units out there.  More common in "Marine" head units.

I've had better results searching marine and motorcycle accessories. I believe the amplifier I'm using now is labeled as marine/atv but not automotive. Everything "automotive" seems to have about 25 more functions than the one I want.
