Go find a 69 Impala and park it beside a new Camaro.
Impala be small, other than length.

Impala be small, or is the Camaro a cartoonish behemoth of a car?
My 1979 Trans Am fits this description. It looks huge, but it's probably smaller than my Mazda 3.
EDIT: it's actually about 16" LONGER than the Mazda, but it's still not that big.
Jeep Comanche. I was suprised at how small of a truck they really are. I mean they are not tiny but I was thinking they were like a F150 size(think the 90's) when really its more like the size of a Dodge Dakota(again think the 90's).
Another phenomenon is that all British sports cars shrink over time. 45 years ago I fit in a Bugeye easily. Now I don't fit a TR6 without listing hard to starboard.

I had one go by me on the highway a month ago and I was shocked at how low it was and how wide the tires were.
I don't know, but the Ford Flex is the exact opposite of this question. Looks like a Scion xB in pics and an Econoline in person.

First one that sprung into my head when opening this thread...
A little thread hijack but the new to me X Type is the opposite. Looks small but is longer and has more room than my wife's H2

That really put's it into perspective
Lamborghini Countach is also very small. Very surprised when I saw one in person for the first time.

yep i had the old wrx parked next to my c4, and the wrx looked like a behemoth next to the vette.
Over the years having done post race tech for IMSA/Pro Sportscar/ALMS it is amazing how big prototypes look on TV yet they are all about the size of a Miata with a wing tacked on the back bumper. When I had the D-Sports Racer I sold the Datsun 1200. When I got the 1200 back I realized how small they are, not quite 5ft wide and even shorter than the Miata. What I found mind blowing is that a Porsche 917 and a Datsun 1200 are on the same wheelbase. I can't imagine the 1200 with 500 HP more and an extra 130 mph top speed, I have tremendous respect for the people who drive these. Now as small has the 1200 is when lined up on grid next to Spitfires & Sprites it looks ginormous. Back in 1981 when Formula One came to town we heard a car was on display, we ran down to Caesars and in the lobby was a Williams, I was just gobsmacked at how small it was and how low the sides of the tub were. It was clear that the tub was only waist high and the drivers entire upper body was completely vulnerable.

Compare any full size pickup truck from the 1960s (or even 1970s) with their modern equivalent. I have a '66 F-100, and when I pull up in traffic next to a late model F-150 I feel like I'm in a mini truck.
how about small cars that you always thought were small, but never had an accurate scale of just how small? I parked beside a MGB in my NA Miata today, and was shocked that it wasn't that much smaller...narrower yes, and with less overhang, but surprisingly comparable in other dimensions... including apparent interior room
Yeah, I always thought of Viper's as SO big, then I saw one parked next to a GTR and now the GTR looks like a fat pig. also today I saw a Renault A310, (I think that's what it was) thought the were Camaro size, but they're more like 70's VW Beetle size!
