On now on History channel. So far I like it.
Not much there I hadn't heard or read about before about each person individually, but the show is doing a decent job of tying them all together.

This is what I really liked!!!!
Watched part two tonight and although I continue to enjoy the story and the dynamic between the people in the buisness it is starting to loose its luster
There are severial if not many scenes that they keep repeating. It is as if they are running out of material. They also seem to be running out of car material and are focusing to much on other events. The second episode could have been cut in half time wise and lost little if any content.
In reply to dean1484: I think all shows do that nowadays. I usually fast forward past the first 5 minutes after commercial, miss the recap.
I am not a motorcycle fan, but I think they did a better job with the Harley Davidson story. It's kinda of funny how they actually have history on the history channel.
We're watching it now. So far it's pretty enjoyable. Now I need to find a good doc on Knudsen. He played a big role in a couple WW2 books I read recently and has a very interesting story.
When they got to John Delorean and the GTO, in the reenactment they used a 1963 full size Buick as the prototype car. I don't think it would have been that hard to find an actual '64 Tempest to use for filming. In the part where the Dodge brothers were working at a workbench there was a Quadrajet carburetor sitting there. Lots of continuity errors that should have been simple to correct.
I'd like to read the biographies of these great men someday but that may be a retirement project. As in how accurate was the portrayal on the series. I didn't know Henry treated Edsel like that.
Overall a pretty good series but w/ a few miscues like the GTO. Episode 3 seemed rushed or too condensed, particularly the last hour. They could have done a lot better there. I'd watch it again.

The show didn't even mention some of Henry's other quirks. In light of recent events that probably was a good thing. Henry wasn't the nicest person even given the attitudes of the day, he was very anti-Semitic and in his later years he was frankly borderline psychotic.
Actually Henry Ford treated Edsel far worse than the show portrayed. I've read various interviews over the years of things Henry Ford said to Edsel. They were akin to R Lee Ermy's (sp) character in Full Metal Jacket. As for Henry's odd behavior, he did all sorts of controlling things like dictating employees morals etc.
I liked the shows but I made allowances knowing that these things are down for a main stream audience.
One thing I thing they did do well was show the complacency trap that many a business as fallen into; When I worked in Gaming (the gambling kind) and saw more than one company that bought into their own hype. Sad and frustrating to see and deal with.
My wife and MIL have been watching it and are calling it a poorly acted soap opera. They are into it though. We've recorded it and are watching delayed.
The cool thing for us is that we were married at the Ford Piquette Ave. plant last year and some of the scenes are shot there.
