I went to the autostore today to get some simple green to clean up the miata's engine bay a little. They didn't have simple green, so I got what I thought was the knock-off; Castrol Purple Degreaser. I started spraying down my engine bay with it, and dripped a little on the front bumper and noticed that it looked like it was discoloring the paint. I sprayed it off immediately and was left with streaks of discoloration. I then read the directions and found out that it says not to get on paint or aluminum surfaces (D'oh!).
Anyway, I polished and waxed the area and it's pretty much back to normal, but if I look at the paint at the right angle with the right light, I can still sort of see streaks where the paint isn't as shiny. It's one of those things where if you don't know about it you would never see it, but it's kinda bugging me.
What is this Castrol purple stuff? Obviously not simple green substitute...
What can I do to fixy my paint?
