My uncle had a camper van for a DD for awhile. One morning, he tried to go to work and he couldn't get the van to move. Turns out the drive shaft was stolen while parked on the street. He made a report to the police station and they replied that the culprits hit several of the same make (Dodge IIRC) that same night.
Gosh. Darn. So sad.
A thief getting his karma instantly. I only feel bad for his family, if he has one.

The guy was probably trying to get some extra Christmas money to buy his children coats to keep warm.
By stealing a catalytic converter from some random person who might be in the same predicament? Come on, man. There are all kinds of church groups, Salvation Army, Goodwill etc that are there to help out in just that sort of situation.
I just don't have sympathy for those whose steal from others. I do however feel sorry for his family for having an idiot father/son/brother.

Weird. Is there something special about a Dodge van drive shaft? A friend of mine's dad's Dodge van had the drive shaft stolen off of it sitting in front of their house back in high school.

I'm funny about that. I am against the death penalty, but I'll kill to protect my life or property.

Is the driveshaft aluminum? With a pickup/van/RV it would be large diameter, long and easily accessable. I could see people stealing a big chunk of aluminum and selling it to the recycler. Some woman in Detroit had the windows stolen out of her house while she was at work. The police officer on the news speculated that they were aluminum frames and that's why they were stolen.
Bob
Apparently that guy didn't read the thread here about always use jackstands when you are working on a car.

if you're still trying to get onto a police force, you might consider not posting things like that on the internet.

As a police officer, he would have to be willing to eliminate a threat (kill.) Make sure you drag the body into your house.
You'll need to log in to post.
