Anyone have the "PRO" code tool? I've got the ABS version but its missing the capability to force I/M readyness. I'm told the pro will let you make the computer go test the I/M's so you don't have to drive so many cycles etc. This may also help pass inspection if theres a recurring code that keeps poping up as you can push force and drive in for inspection.
Is the above true does it force the computer to go test the I/M's?
Thanks

That would at best be something that the DOT would only issue to authorized inspection and certified emission center. I doubt that can be sold legally as it would really piss off the EPA and as we saw with VW they take cheating the emission systems in cars seriously
Some of the pro level scan tools can place the computer in a quick learn mode, but you would still have to satisfy the desires of the testing. As I recall, they also help you by giving you feedback during the drive cycle, basically coaching you and alerting you to when the test is complete to minimize drive time. But you can't force readiness with a regular scan tool.
i'd have to look at mine. i know it tests the monitors but i'm not sure you can force them to do anything.

The code her E36 M3 box wrx pops is the dreaded P0011 VVT out of range as they use the oil line off the turbo to feed one side. funny thing is it run better with the cell on and gets better mileage too. I've grown tired of short interval (500mile) oil changes in hopes of flushing the stick components going to pull the solenoid and clean everything i can get too. Figures i just did the belts in Sept and could have opened the cam unit apart then but had not seen a code in a year or so, but since December I can't get rid of it long enough to get all the I/M's okay and with working an avaerage 60 hour weeks since September I've not had much time to berkeley with it.

Not really. Forcing the readiness tests just makes the computer take a few shortcuts, not eliminate any steps. Its designed so Techs don't have to spend all day test driving cars to get the readiness monitors to run.

So does anyone have a "Pro" and a car that they can reset the codes on then try the force I/M button on? I don't want to buy another code reader if it will not do what i want. I just got the ABS one last month....
