My son and I would like to shake down our Challenge car before the event and I found this 2 day auto-x at Daytona International. I'm hoping @FloatingDoc, @David S. Wallens or other CFR regulars can help answer some questions for me.

  1. Are both days effectively the same thing, but Saturday is just a shorter day?
  2. Can we enter both days?
  3. If we don't know what class we're in, how do we figure that out?
  4. If we've done 1 auto-x (which was recent), are we still novices?
  5. What is the TrackSprint event? Can we do that too?

Thanks for helping learn us! smiley

Good questions. I'm entered for Sunday. Might add Saturday but haven't yet.

1. Saturday is a practice day and Sunday is a points day. That site is limited to the kart track, so don't expect a radically different course each day–although they can run it in either direction.

2. Yes. I believe you get a discount, too, by running both days.

3. One of us on the forum can help with classing. Happy to help. Or just run XSA or XSB. :)

4. Yeah, you can sign up as a novice. That will just let everyone there know that you might need a little extra attention. Novice instructors will be there, too. (Hi, Jerry.)

5. TrackSprint is like autocross on the infield road course. Looks like it's sold out, though.

And this is a fun site. Since it's all on the kart track, you don't have to worry about the sea of cones. You'll have an easier-than-usual time of finding your way about. Also, clean bathrooms right there. Come join us.

And it looks a lot like this:

David covered it well. As for classing your car, it's not necessary. All of the novices are combined in their own class.

It varies from region to region, but here you're able to run as a novice until you have completed three events, or won in the novice class.

Any other questions we can help with?

Thanks guys. I'm going to confirm with my son but assume we'll both register!

You'll need to log in to post.
