Ok, let's sort this out a bit. Looks like you have pretty good proof the mustang wheels are $150.
You couldn't sell the Q45 wheels for quite $150 - because shipping would be paid out of that $150 offer right?
Sounds like you are close to an even trade so far, and clarifying the shipping would help.
But you made $500 real dollars on some other deal? (I don't remember what the deal you mention was). Can you give a bit more details? The real deal might be more beneficial to you than the FMV you're showing currently.

I want to trade the wheels in photo 1 for wheels in photo 2 at no budget hit.
Wheels in photo 1 came with my white Q45.
Wheels in photo 2 came with my purple Q45. I attempted to sell the wheels on eBay separately and received an offer of $150 which included free shipping, when they cost $120 to ship = scrap money.
Wheels in photo 1 were sold with the purple Q45 obviously increasing the value of the purple Q45 by $500 since I was able to get $500 more for the car. I should be able to say I received $500 and the wheels in photo 2 as a trade for wheels in photo 1.
Making an even more compelling case I included the wheels for the white Q45 in the sale of the Purple Q45. That meant I had traded the wheels in Photo 1 for 2 sets of wheels from the purple Q45 in which I broke even. I sold the other set of wheels not pictured for the $500 in profit I was talking about on the above post.
^This part I'm just joking about but I could use more money in my budget. I'm happy to accept them as an even trade.
I see, I think. Let me see if I get this right:
- You bought purple Q45 for x.
- You removed wheels that have fmv between 0-150, so theoretical value of purple Q45 is between x and x-150.
- You added wheels of magical powers to the purple Q45 and sold it for x+500. So the minimum fmv of the magical wheels is $500 and the max is $650.
Is that basically the argument? I'm now confused where the mustang wheels come into play, but let's leave that aside for now.
In the above situation, I think you could treat this as a recoup situation, but you probably don't want to. That would be like: add purple Q45 cost (x) to budget, remove wheels, recoup all of x. You cannot recoup more than you paid for a single part. At least you would have a budget neutral set of wheels, but you would probably add to your recoup significantly lowering your future recoup potential (recoup limit would now be 1008-x).
So now I see your question - your data shows that the magical q45 wheels are probably worth more than the other q45 wheels, and therefore I would be ok with a fmv even trade. However, I don't think you can do better than that since you cannot recoup more than the purchase price.
Now, tell me you sold the purple q45 with the mustang wheels and then sold the magical q45 wheels to the same buyer on a separate invoice, and now you are recouping from the cost of the white q45, which is probably your desired solution!
My head hurts trying to follow along...
Just call it an even trade with no budget hit and call it a day. Sheez...if anybody successfully protests you at the challenge with this convulsed situation they're a true shiny happy person.

Basically, or I traded x magic wheels for two sets and sold the one set recouping the $500.
Mustang wheels autocross tires, second set for drag radials. Tired of running 15 second+ runs at 95+mph.
