I'm sure after many hours with power tools and loud-ass racecars, there are plenty of us on this forum that fall under this category.

That being said, both you and your project are full of enough WIN to power all of Newfoundland during the targa. Good luck!

I think GRM needs some more in-depth coverage of Targa Newfoundland this year.

Tell David to run the story I gave him for last year!

It would have to be the $.10 for the can since you never buy beer, you only rent it.

moTthediesel wrote: Yeah, I was doing that car domain site, but I got tired of posting all that body work stuff. For that matter, I got tired of doing all that body work too, but eventually it got done. For those interested, the engine is a 1.6TD out of a '85 Quantum that I bought on fleabay for $400. It's been rebuilt with second oversize pistons, new bearings, high output oil pump, etc. For performance mods it has euro spec GTD injectors, an A4 Jetta TDI variable nozzle VNT 15 turbo blowing through a 944 Turbo intercooler, a long runner GTI gasser intake manifold, and a 2-1/2" stainless exhaust system. Most importantly though, it has an injection pump modified by Giles at Performance Diesel in Markham, Ont. For those who don't know, Giles is sort of the Smokey Yunick of V Dub diesels Judging from the performance of similarly built engines, it should make around 110 hp and 160 ft/# of torque. The engine is mounted to the original Porsche gearbox using a Kennedy adapter and drives through one of their stage 2 clutches. The car is entered in this Septembers' Targa Newfoundland Rally in the Touring equipped class and will be running the whole event on 100% biodiesel. To see more about that, follow this link to my friends site: http://www.harthearing.com/RaceforHearing/tabid/3625/Default.aspx While there, please take note of our fund raising efforts for the hearing impaired. Lots to do yet, and the car has to be in Rochester, NY (200 miles away) next Wednesday for promotional pictures, so forgive me if I don't have a lot of time to spend on the forums --

You belong here. With us. That's more Grassroots than anything I own right now.. And I'm lovin' that G60 valve cover, I swear they're the only ones that don't leak. I need one for my gas 8v.

I'm thinking one of those mini kegs would make a good home made cool can for your fuel line - Mini Keg - bendable copper line - rubber hose - drain cock for the bottom

I made one once out of a metal pop corn container

Funny you should mention leaking re: that G60 cover --

My son got that for me and it is way cool, but the first couple of times I ran the engine it leaked like a stuck pig.

When I got it I ordered the correct rubber gasket and mounting studs, so I expected no troubles. But when I studied the problem it looked like the collars in the middle of the studs were too think, so they were keeping the gasket from getting the proper "squish factor". The collars measured .085" thick, so I took each one out and turned it down to .04 on the lathe and reinstalled. That took care of it, but it was a real nuisance.

Tools don't count. Beer is definitely a tool used in challenge car construction.
