So....is anyone's car going to be ready lol?
We are pulling the Justang out of mothballs for our GRM interview tomorrow night.....still haven't had time to touch it since the event. Sheesh.
I could technically bring the Riv as it sits right now, but I'd like to limit myself to getting mildly spanked across the board after upgrades vs. the all-out near-death beating I'd get with it in stock form.
Same boat. Ony reliability concerns vs performance

I picked reliability over performance the time in 2006 my initial build for the challenge fell through. That happened to be the year no one DNF'd. Got second to last place. I'm aiming for third to last or better this year.

I had the Opel out at a local autocross on Saturday. I had reinstalled the over budget rear sway bar after the challenge last year and it seemed to be handling well, but maybe just a tad tail happy. On the last run I disconnected the rear bar, and wow what a difference. It felt glued to the road. I dropped 3 seconds off the run and probably could have done more if I my reflexes were up to the new speed.
Unfortunately, I don't know if a trip to the challenge is in the personal budget this year. I may just be bench racing this time.
Who thinks this is a good idea? Make Swiss cheese of the free brake rotor replacements.

Looks like you made an effective cheese grater.
Burned my thumb yesterday while welding on the exhaust because I got stupid and in a rush. It's not bad, but just indicates my state of mind is not great right now. Work will continue on the S10, but the search for an alternate vehicle that won't require much work to be ready is now officially on, hopefully not another Corsica.
Given that it's going to be at least a couple of weeks before I might have the Jeep I bought last week drivable and thus be willing to take the Riv out of commission to dig into the engine, I'm having doubts that I'm going to get nearly as much as I'd like to done on the car.

Where are you testing Saturday? I bought a new set of Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S radials, do you think I need to break them in?

Decided yesterday that I'm not going to build the truck for this years challenge. I'm still going to build it for myself, maybe bring it next year, but I think I need to build it at my own pace w/out a deadline.
I'm still coming, though. Parking lot build (or anyone else who needs a hand), here I come.

I still want a Rat Rod class.
Would there be a 28 Chevrolet 4 door competing that year?
I'm at this point...

4" lower in back and barely got my jack back out to get it off the stands temporarily.

I'll check your work if you need me to.
Just signed up. Between that and the hotel reservations already being taken care of, we're officially committed.

What's the hotel price this year?
$119 for king with sofa bed. We're booked weds-sun. Much poolside chilling thursday instead of driving all day
I really need to get us registered. After payday. The whole wife being out of work thing.....

Doing same...even though we're ONLY 700 miles from event was worn out Friday after driving all day thursday.

Someone needs to check my work before I make a mess on the track. I don't trust myself
i found $299 in my budget! actually $279. i derped and put the belt in the spreadsheet 2x last year. i repurchased 2 items that are significantly cheaper than they were last year to replace them with, deleted the tablet gauge system that i honestly didn't use last year during competition, and scored drag slicks for way too cheap from a guy that ran from the cops and lost his srt-4 to impound.
since this thread is for "checking", and since I've volunteered to help Dusterbd13 with his spreadsheet...
Can I get a check that this spreadsheet is "up to date"?
Well, apparently I'm finally going to be able to participate in the Challenge (at least in a very limited and probably mostly insignificant way) with Robbies 2017 Chicago Parking Lot build
