Yep, I can relate. Since I haven't found ANYONE willing to help, I've been working on mine, by myself, pretty much every day since I lost my job in April and a few weekends before that. My dad has assisted a little but he has his own issues (roof repair, timing belt on his A4, etc)
I'm finally ready to start laying paint.
The torque tube is still apart because I can't find a replacement bearing carrier.
The cylinder head isn't ready to go back on the engine, so no EFI yet.
Electrical hasn't really started either.
Can't put the transmission or suspension in because the engine and driveline aren't ready.
front and rear wheel bearings need to be repacked. brake lines bent, bleed, etc.
Of course if I were aiming for October, I'd probably not be in that bad of shape. However, I've got until early August to finish it.
Of course my better half is trying to figure out how to even afford the trip if I do make the car functional in time. I think I might be lucky to afford a flight.
So yeah, I'm pretty much at the wall and I doubt even with a ton of monkey's I'll make it. Of course all of the noise I made about the West Coast event, I feel like a complete dufus because I probably won't make it. Sigh, nothing like eating crow and feeling like a bit of a failure!
Think of it this way: At least you have a backup plan.
