A helpful tip here.

I usually am pretty good about preventative maintence, but one missed item caught up to me recently . My Nissan truck has been running pretty crappy for a few months and it felt like a bad TPS or air flow meter. This week, I noticed a little gas weeping from underneath the fuel filter. So this weekend I bought a new filter and a short piece of fuel hose for the inlet. The old hose felt pretty punky once I got it off and was likely the cause of the leak. I'm guessing it wasn't intended for alcohol fuel since it was from 1986. Short story is...the truck now runs great! Go figure. The fuel filter on these trucks are huge (and NLA) and the dirty crap that came out of the dirty side of the filter blew my mind. I'm going to keep a better eye on it from now on.

That's what they are there for.

Had a similar issue in the early 80's once. Car would only run for a short while then die. After sitting about 10-15 minutes could then start it and drive a little while more. Drove me and a mechanic batty till we pulled the fuel filter and found it clogged. Replaced and never had another issue. Now the fuel filter is the first thing I check and I use the see-through type.

Yea I know. I used to change it periodically, but time flies as you get older. I need to start writing the date on them again.

You'll need to log in to post.
