My MG Midgets have knock-offs on them. How can I go about converting to a common wheel pattern like a 5x4.5 or 4x100?

In the case if the MG Midget, it's a little more difficult than that. In the rear you have to change axles as the knockoff is a little longer than the lug axles. In the front, you change spindles to a lug spindle. Still, I've been told that it isn't difficult, just time consuming. Meaning I haven't done it as both my Midgets (a 63 project & 72 parts car) have lug type axles. Find a rusted hulk parts car or buy from Moss or Vicky-Brit and get the original lug pattern (4X4.5 I believe). Don't know if it's allowed to mention but check on the Classic Motorsports site and/or MG Experience. Someone there will know exactly.
And I'm sure that someone will buy those knock off setups for more than you invest in the conversion.
Spridgets are 4 x 4" bolt circle stock, so they are real close to 4 x 100. A machine shop could easily redrill a set of stock hubs to use a larger knurl stud so you'd have 4 x 100 mm.
And yes the wire wheel stuff would sell pretty quickly.
