who can remember when cable TV first came out and didn't(mostly) have any ads? That was the reason you paid a cable fee so you wouldn't have to watch advertisements.
My father-in-law brings this up to me all the time. He's still mad about this change.
He's also mad about the Illinois tollways that were supposed to be eventually paid off and they would stop collecting tolls.......

Does having a Busch count if I'm on camera during my show? Maybe I should ask them for cash....
You should ask them for cash - they should be paying people to drink that swill.
Bahaha. My cheap alternative.

It's going to continue to happen, because DVR is causing nobody to watch commercials anymore.
Nope, it's because the "value" of media is starting to become more in line with what it is worth... IMO. Especially when the average person without the bazillion dollar budget can produce a quality piece of work. True "art" and "entertainment".
Face it, "CAR SHOWS" dont cater to hard core gear heads; they cant. Its too narrow a market. A lot of shows start off with the best of intentions. look at the original Shade Tree Garage with Sam and Dave; it was an informative show catering to the do-it yourself type guy, but it caved in to the cost of production. Chop Cut Rebuild fell into the same boat, as did Stacey David. Hell I would live to be in Staceys shoes having to figure out which crate engine and kit car package to push in this weeks episode while I assemble in the euber-shop. Auto-Geek has progressed from a small shop to a good size empire, Mike Phillips is THE MAN in detailing, I am glad they have the coin to foot an info-mercial.
