I took some time recently, based on a GRM article about the SRC helmet microphone kit (http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/wiring-up-an-in-helmet-radio/) to wire up my helmet.

Part of the reason I did it is for HPDEs where I may start instructing. However, it appears that Chatterbox has done everyone a favor and re-designed the connector on the Tandem Pro Duo... to yet another nonstandard connector.

According to the gent I spoke to at Chatterbox, it uses a "standard" 3.5mm connector, but it uses non-standard spacing.

I can't seem to find any pictures of the connector, and I'm not about to order a unit only to have to return it if I can't figure it out. Does anyone have one of the new Tandem Pro Duo units and:

1) Have you used any other mic/earphones with it? 2) Could you measure/photograph the new connector?

Thanks!

Spoke too soon.

It appears that Race Communications makes an adapter for both the old DIN/6-PIN as well as the new 3.5mm connector. Here's the new-style IMSA adapter:

It stinks that that adapter is $50 by itself....

I'm not quite sure what you're after for connections but the 3.5mm is a standard connector: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Kobiconn/171-7425-E/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMv0W4pxf2HiV1zUxoMGggI3ECQU23tCwCg%3d

There is probably a DIY solution to your problem if your willing to solder and do a bit of investigation.

You'll need to log in to post.
