It's pretty common knowledge that you can get cheap Eaton superchargers from T-Birds and GM 3800s. What if you want a roots or twinscrew supercharger sized for a V8? Where do you source such a thing sized for, say, a 4.8 LS? What about one big enough for an 8.1 big block? Obviously we're just talking about the ability to move air, actually mounting the thing would be a custom job.

Should I just cruise craigslist waiting for an aftermarket one needing a rebuild?

how cheap are m112's from the cobra and lightning?

Looks like they run about $500 in questionable condition vs $150 or so for the m90s I see out there.

I guess your looking for a more eloquent anwser than two M90 Eaton superchargers

Define cheap? Because there's a perfectly good new TVS2300 for sale in the 2015 Classifieds....

Twin superchargers is the answer.

Hmmm.....

How would one run twin m90s on say a small block chevy? What would the belt routing and manifolds have to be like?

I considered this a while back... type twin M90 into google pictures and you will have many variations

Example of what I thought was the best method:

How crappy are the old 6-71 from a old two stroke diesel?

In reply to Dusterbd13:

It actually makes the manifold a lot easier, since you'd feed one bank from each SC, so you're not limited to shoving the SC in the middle and going up, or down, and to each side. You can run more efficient intercoolers, as well.

But obviously, there's more hardware, so you'd better have some room under the hood. Or just run without the hood.

The belt can be tricky, definitely need to upgrade to a 6 or 8 rib belt. It's possible to run separate belts for each, but they each need a tensioner, unobstructed routing, etc. If you have room in front of the engine, that might be the way to go.

Back in the 90's a guy built a 351w thunderbird with twin M90s

Looks like his page is still up:

6-71 would be a good answer. A lot of this is about the general Mad Max-ness of a supercharger, so I'm not sure whether two m90s is a terrible answer or a great one

They aren't bad, but by the time you rebuild it, get the drive parts and intake manifold, it gets quite expensive.

Actually adapting a diesel 6-71 is a very pricey procedure. Remember, the bearings in these are only good for low RPMs because diesels don't turn many RPMS. Also, the rotor clearances are very loose because these actually don't pressurize the engine on a Detroit. They are simply used as a scavenging pump.

Ok now there's a lot of room in the engine bay of my 94 940, how do you think an Eaton off of a GM 3800 would fit in there?

There are a lot of aftermarket Detroit-style (6-71, etc.) blowers for V8s but they're certainly not cheap. Those would be swap meet options - or getting lucky and finding a modified car at the junkyard. I've never been that lucky.

Twinning Eaton M90/M112s seems like the junkyard hot ticket if you have the room and can figure out how to route belts and cool the entire mess. It's basically what Aston Martin did.

You could also pull the Kenne Bell/Eaton superchargers off of wrecked Mustang Cobras of various vintages. But I would imagine those get snapped up at auction by specialist junkyards and are in demand.

They're more expensive, but the TVS 1900 blowers found on some of the supercharged Jags are much better than an M90 or M112. That's probably what I'll eventually use to replace the M90 on my Supercoupe.

Don't bother, just put a bigger turbo on.. The t25 you got is teeniny... T3 is the way to go. But up the boost first, it will give you more fun for a while. 14psi should tickle your fancy for a while.

why must one choose between the turbo and the blower? why not also some nitrous, too?
