I'm planning a second battery installation in my truck, and was wondering where I could find a new deep cycle battery for cheap. Any discount sites? I'd love to find a blemish or something like that. Size isn't a big deal (smaller would be preferable to larger) as I'll be building the tray once I find a good battery.

The other battery thread of the day has a bunch of Advance Auto discount codes listed. Which... usually end up undercutting wallyworld once applied.
yeah, we were pricing out deep cycles to run the trolling motor on our work boat. walmart was the cheapest by a long shot compared to local battery stores, and if you search google they have some pretty good reviews on the performance and lifespan of the batteries.

It is not the CCA you need to look at for a deep cycle battery. It is the Amp Hours and Volts. One 800 CCA battery with 50 amp hours is junk compared to another with 400 CCA and 100 amp hours. Just compare 12V to 12V or 2ea 6V to 1ea 12V, etc. For example, 2 6V batts at 100 amp hours is the same as 1 12V batt at 100 amp hours.

I just copied the title, they only list reserve capacity. The first one I posted was 210 minutes which I think would equate to about 90AH. The 2nd one, was much lower.

Wally's World or Sams is where I usually buy batteries. That's where I got the one I'm using in the trailer to power the winch and inverter. Off the top of my head it was in the $70-$80 range. It's huge though.

what is the difference between deep cycle and high cycle? i have a high cycle semi truck battery in my boat. it has a generator on the engine so i assume this is acceptable.

I had to look that one up.
Please remember a Deep cycle (DC) needs at least 14.4V to charge to full capacity and a high cycle (HC) 13.8v-14V. if you intend to run accessories, go for a deep cycle and make sure your alternator's charge voltage is at least 14,4V. Also try to keep both batteries the same make and capacity, due to the fact that there is only one power source (alternator @ 14v or 14.4V) to charge both batteries. If a DC is charged @ 14V it will not reach its full potential and have no real benefit.
The crank current of a DC is less then a HC but can supply constant current for a longer period of time than a HC, so.... In winter the DC might battle with the first start in the morning but will last longer, the HC will get it started easier but will run flat faster if the engine does not start.
