I thought I would share what I think is a good find...

Rural King Stores: Peak Brand Full Synthetic Oil bought for $1.43 per quart.

Then later at my local WalMart, not in line with the regular oil filter selection but on a back end cap with other discontinued automotive dept items I found Bosch Distance Plus Oil Filters for $5.
There were many models numbers but no book or reference guide so I opened up RockAuto and searched the oil filter model numbers of vehicles I own. Sure enough, I found filters for 4 vehicles in my fleet and bought multiples.
I found that RockAuto charges $14.68 plus shipping for this filter on my Prius and Amazon charges $10.

Of course, this post assumes that "oil is oil" and that you, like me, are not brand loyal as long as it is API approved.

My 4 qt oil change will cost me $6 in oil and $5 in filter = $11
I'm intending to go 10K miles on this syn oil and good filter.

What specifications does it meet?

If it only meets API specs without also meeting ACEA, it's not really much better than non-synthetic, IMO.

Once I found out about that, I noticed that almost all of the sub-$10/qt oils don't meet ACEA.

I don't see any ACEA ratings, so I wouldn't run that in any European cars that require synthetic.

But for a car that doesn't require synthetic or ACEA ratings I would run it.

I run the Walmart Synth. Do the analysis and it holds up well. Then again, Kia and GM aren't real picky about what oil you use. Just make sure there is some in there.

No ACEA.
Just API SN

You know Genuine Toyota filters are only like five bucks at the dealer, right?

Given that, it seems to me that you might as well run this stuff rather than Mobil 1/Synpower/Syntech/etc. Provided it meets the specs in the owners manual, of course.

Of course, I say that, but I run M1 in my cars....

That's a good price. I've been getting Quaker State or Synpower from Menards but never for that low (I think $2.50/quart is the lowest I've paid, and that includes a rebate which is only good at Menards). Did they have 0w-20?

Fortunately for me, Menards is expanding into the Cincinnati metro area, and I was able to get in on that same deal. The $24 rebate was pretty nice, as there is always something at Menards that I "need" !!

Menards is my "go to" for wiper blades. They often have spectacular prices on them compared to auto parts places and others like Walmart.

I did not see 0w20 but I also was not shopping for that.
