Trying to get body panels from the west coast. Getting crazy prices. It'd be about 80#s 58x40x18.
Ideas?

Don't use fedex. They charged me one rate online based on size and weight, then billed my card a week later without permission for $700.
That size is going to kill you with the parcel services. Try a quote on pirateship.com that is who I use for ups. then also try goship.com they give freight quotes. My discount code with them isn't as good as it used to be but I think it'll still give you 5% off it's 15nick
Oh if you do ship it freight then have them strap it to a skid you don't want to see how they treat loose boxes!!
Has anyone compared pirateship to shipstation with the paypal discount?
Also have you tried RL Carriers?
Way back when I got a Tacoma rear diff and entire front subframe, with diff installed, shipped from Utah to VA via DHL reasonably cheaply. The other quote we used back then was Greyhound. Not sure if that's still a thing.
I generally use PirateShip for my random parts sales. I know 50# triggers a surcharge on UPS. I shipped a chassis harness for an E46 with fuse box and it was right at 48lbs. Needed to also ship trans harness, so added that in and it turned out it was cheaper to send two packages than the single 52# package.
Like Buzzboy mentioned already, Fedex/UPS and USPS will Dim Weight surcharge you after the shipment has been picked up, unless you use a 3rd party shipping service like PirateShip... So I'd definitely avoid those services directly.

Ups got me on a pirateship a few weeks ago for $7 extra even though I always round weight and dimensions up. Fedex is the worst though, i used them through ebay and they got me for $40+ extra on one. They claimed a 26x26x6 box was over 12 inches on the 6 dimension and not only berkeleyed me in that regard, they charged me extra based on full retail vs my ebay discounted rate and absolutely shafted me. I don't use them unless the difference is worth the risk.
OP: shipping is berkeleying expensive anymore. I sent a set of tesla floor mats to los angeles from ohio and it cost me $87 with the pirateship discount.

berkeley me that's expensive!
I hope you didn't sell it as "free shipping" and have to eat it all.
Sad to hear greyhound doesn't do this anymore. I got 4 wheels shipped across country for a reasonable price, but that was 15 years ago.
Is Blue Lane Freight® through Fastenal still a thing?
They used to be pretty reasonable. You drop it off at your local Fastenal, they pick it up at their local Fastenal.

Except for Amazon. They can somehow UPS a 3'x3'x3' box with a piece of paper in it in 2 days that cost 4 bucks all in.
