So I've tried a few things on my DME but I just can't fix all the water damage to the board. Plus I want the car to be super reliable, so I'm looking for a replacement. Anyone know of a good, cheap option besides Ebay?

I don't speak 944, so DME translates to durable medical equipment to me, but I know that is not what you mean. I'm guessing this is some computer module that is installed in a location where it gets wet like the passenger footwell or something. My guess is that someone here not only has one, but will be willing to send it you cheaply.
For me, DME means Distance Measuring Equipment.
I think I just unintentionally gave a free plug for my company.
Yeah, it's essentially the ECU.
Joseph, you probably knew about these, but just in case, here's some 944 and Porsche-specific used part vendors I've found online:
"DME" is Porsche-talk for "ECU," for those who don't know.
Depending on your exact model, a Megasquirt DIYPNP kit might be an option:

Only the first one, thanks a bunch!

Another RC employee here-- I've not pulled the spec sheets, but the -2100 looks like an air transport box, not a business and regional box like the -4000.
The -2100 might run on 400 Hz AC, which the -4000 definitely does not. Our installs run the -4000 on 28 VDC. And yes, the -4000 is definitely smaller.
I have bought stuff off plyhammer. Good guy. I have a spare DME but it is for an early car, so I can't help you out. Sorry
In reply to Karacticus:
Yes, the -4000 is a 28VDC box. Former Cessna 680 avionics engineer now working Part 29 stuff in the NE.
Wonder how many other folks work in the aircraft industry on the GRM Forum.

just purchased a DME for $125 from Plyhammer's Parts. By far the cheapest price of any 85.5-87. Thanks a bunch for the recommendations! I love this forum!
