Not pertinent to the OP, but I recently sold a 1991cc Ferrari V8 that also came in a 3000cc version in the 308. It easily weighed less than 250 lbs.

I don't know of any modern V8 that's smaller or lighter. There were some pre-war racing cars with 1.5L and 1.0L V8 engines.
