The driver's door window on my truck is irritating me. Sometimes it works. Some times it does not. It isn't slow, or intermittent... if I shut the truck off and turn it back on it will work (sometimes) but it never quits "during" a drive. It is either there or it isn't based on it's status after the truck starts. So... not the up/down switch, not like a bi-metal safety switch and really not even like a relay with a weak field... so where is this magic control box that has gone wonky on me?

What kind?

Basically, when it works it works perfectly. When it does not, it just won't work like there is no power. If I cycle the whole truck sometimes it comes back and sometimes it does not.

The door module with the switches looks like it is just switches and the wire size indicates that it is low power solid state or relay control, not power switching so... where does the power switch/relay/module for the driver's door motor live?

Think Ranger50 meant what year, it will determine where your problem lies because the wiring layout actually changes between the 88-94 OBS (old body style) and 95-98 OBS, and is completely different for 99-07 NBS (new body style) and 07-13 NNBS (New new body style). If it's the 88-94 OBS, you just might have one of the old circuit breakers crapping out on you, the large metal things that plug into the underdash fuse box. If it's later, then it may be a relay somewhere else.

YMM would be nice to see if we are dealing with CAN bus or not.

Could be a door or body control module going down and the restart "wakes" it back up. I wouldn't be surprised if the master switch is bad too. I am fighting that right now in the wife's Av and I just don't want to fix it right now. The switch only works the last micromillimeter of travel trying to get windows back up.
