So, I've been driving an Impala rental car since Monday and the one thing about the car that I have not been able to figure out is the key. It has a switchblade type key , which is not confusing since I've had one of those for my miata for 12 years. The confusing thing is that as far as I can tell there is no key holes anywhere on the car. The doors all have little buttons on the handles to lock/unlock, but no place to insert a key. The trunk can be opened with a button on the key fob or by pressing the strange feeling release under the lip, but there is no keyhole back there either. There is no key hole for the ignition as there is just one of those start/stop buttons on the dash. Why does the key fob have a flip out key and where should I stick it?

I'll have the car for another couple of weeks, so I have plenty of time to try to stick it in different places.

glove box?

is there a cover on the driver side door that needs to be accessed for the keyhole?

Ah, the old “shove it up the butt” maneuver.
