a competitor would do this? would you want to beat someone at their best and not with a technicality?

Constant protests and rule mongering I've seen at multiple events tell me otherwise. I've (unfortunately) even seen it at challenge. Some people don't give a E36 M3 about winning clean. See the entire gaming world.

"She's good people, and would not instigate a witch hunt without cause."

To me that reads that involving the law means a witch hunt.  Which is a concerning statement on multiple levels.

I mean, you're not wrong. By the letter of english that's what it looks like it says. But by the context of the rest of his comments I didn't think that's what he intended. It's probably good you clarified, albeit a bit abrasively.

The fact that, while you used simple sentences, everything you typed is spelled correct and grammatically correct says otherwise.

As always with these things we won't know for weeks.

I've been driving/instructing with the BMW CCA since the '90s and racing with them for 10-15 years now. I've stuck with the CCA even when I didn't have a BMW for a few years just because it's such a friendly, welcoming, and respectful group of folks.

If someone intentionally sabotaged competitors' cars, I'd be shocked ... it's just so far outside my experience with the CCA. Watching this closely.

It may have been a little more personal than just a fellow competitor who was better.

Though not related to this instance, it was relayed to me earlier in her career that some male racers could not handle being beaten by the female Ms. Lam.  Snide comments and the like. As someone who is wholly foreign to the idea of such discrimination, I found this appalling. Probably not the case in this instance, but another layer to the crap salad that needs to be considered.

Ftfy...

At our local auto-x, there used to be a young gal who smoked 95% of everybody (though I think it's mostly guys who compete; there have always been a few fast ladies, going back to at least Denise McCluggage...), nobody cared, so maybe it depends on the group you're in.

Btw, I was about to change my screen name back to OldGray320i, but I noticed in this post that the ol' "let's censor those we don't like by down voting and hiding their posts" is still active.  Yes, I get that I can open it and read it, but does it bother anyone else that in the land of free speech we're going to do that?

What happened to "I disagree vehemently with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."?

Replying to this, and not what's happening in the thread, here.
Being free of the consequences of speech has never been guaranteed, not should it be. If somebody is constantly spouting nonsense, eventually others will get tired of it.

And nobody is obligated to indulge anyone else's nonsense. That is a parallel freedom to free speech.

In all populations of humans I've found that maybe 92% are good, well intentioned people and 8% are complete a-holes. The same dynamic applies to racers unfortunately. If this actually went down the way that it appears, I'm sure the person who did it believes that their actions were completely justified. That's how sociopaths work.

Always surprised by how many people don't get that the "land of free speech" just prevents the gov't from censoring you, not a privately-owned business' message board that folks voluntarily choose to participate in, which can have whatever the hell rules it wants to. I bet even the Cleetus discussion groups have rules...

So now the idiocy is bleeding over in to completely unrelated posts.

Margie, Tom, Tim, JG, seriously, this is the kind of r--------- that is driving away views forcing y'all to make all the posts for engagement.

This has the opposite effect it is intended to have. I always click to see what horribly offensive thing someone posted that got so many downvotes. And usually I am disappointed at how tame it actually was.

The contention that private companies can do what they choose is pretty modern and isn't well founded.

It is not modern, it is the foundation of property rights.  A private company (or individual), can do what it likes with its own property.  It cannot do what it likes with your property.  Same thing applies in reverse, you can do what you like with your property, but you cannot do the same with someone else's property.

Guess what -- this forum is not your property.

As has been said plainly so many times before, this is GRM's house and GRM's party, and we are all invited to hang out and enjoy the party if we care to follow the house rules, just as we're free to leave if we don't like the hosts or disagree with the house rules.

We all choose to log in and post and we have the choice to go log in and post somewhere else if we want! Nobody is forcing anyone to be here! It's really not that complicated...
