Yay on the car. Boo on the price.

A little over a year ago a local Ford dealer had a "twin" to this car. That one had a few more miles on it, and who knows what it was like mechanically. But at the time I thought $2K was too much for a Civic that was nearly 20 years old. $3K MIGHT not be too bad a stretch, IF this car was nearly perfect. But as soon as the seller adds "THE BAD" to his ad, he/she is admitting that this car is not "primo".

Funny, I can see it when other folks are interested in overpriced cars, but I find it difficult to properly price a car I'm interested in, myself.

I wouldn't mind paying $2000. The problem is the only new parts listed is a clutch. Figure on timing belt/water pump, axles, suspension, brakes, etc if everything is original. If someone isn't a decent mechanic, labor. Next thing you know you have an expensive 20 year old civic.

Having owned two of these, and my Dad having a twin to this one currently, I don't think the price is out of line if the car is represented accurately. Maybe a little high, but not much.

If there was more service done with receipts, I can see $3000. I would take your Dad's off his hands, but I have a feeling you or your son's might not let that happen

Actually, I've been trying to get my Dad to sell his. I don't want it because it's an automatic, which really saps the fun right out of these cars. His is getting a little rusty and he wants me to fix it, which is why I'm trying to get him to get a CR-V. But I don't think he's going to, and i'm probably going to have to fix the rust. BTW, I'll get back to you on the CRX. I'm not really in the best situation to buy something right now, which is why I'm hesitant.

In reply to bravenrace: If he changes his mind, I may be interested. I'm still trying to find a door for the crx, have been close. I'm finally getting calls and e-mails and have some people wanting to come look at it. I don't sit it out by the road anymore though because I kinda hate to get rid of it. It runs and drives so good and I know I would have a hard time getting another one. Let me know on the wagon if he changes his mind or if you want to talk about the crx.

I like those prices going up on the wagons though. Do you know if that 91 is an efi? It doesn't say in the ad, just wondering.

All 88-91 4WD wagons had the CRX-si 1.6 MPFI engine in them.
