Seems like a pretty cool solution to having the right size hose clamps for any application.

I have one, but I have only had mixed success with it. There are times and places when you don’t have enough space to use the tool as intended. I like having it for emergencies though.

I have one as well. It generally works well and I agree with your comment above. The "trick" is to use thinner wire than you think you will need and "double" clamp it.
I bought one thinking it would be a cool way to attach hoses on prewar cars. I thought it would look more era appropriate than a worm gear clamp. I think I used it exactly 10 times, three of those involved more blood than I liked and one involved me removing a piece of stainless wire that went all the way through my index finger. I ended up putting it in a GRM new years gift box so I wouldn't be tempted to use it again.
I use my safety wire pliers to do the same thing and bend the twisted end in a loop. Still looks vintage but far less tricky and easier to do in tight spaces
Also, using a narrow piece of wire is pretty much the worst way to clamp a hose. Small stressed area is pretty much a knife to a soft hose, especially after repeated heat cycles.
Looks cool though. I dug the look of the finished clamps.
I’ve started using the same style crimp clamps as found on Audi’s and VWs with great success and you can get them in bulk cheap. I use them for any small hoses (vacuum, heater, fuel etc). For large stuff (radiator or intake) I use OEM style spring clamps or old fashioned worm clamps. I can provide a photo if that helps. For the VAG clamps they make a couple of crimp tools but they aren’t expensive.
I’ve used mine quite a bit for both cars and aircraft and love it. I always double wrap the wire and have never had a failure and think it looks much better than a regular hose clamp. Though, like everyone else has said, it doesn’t work in tight spaces, you’ve got to be able to flip the tool over.
IIRC there was a thread on here within the past year or so with a lot of love for it. Seems Keith Tanner, among others, think it's great.
I bought one to do a clean install on the breather for my Harley, I used soft aluminum wire, the stainless is way more than I needed and difficult to use. Think some fat copper wire would look nice also.
I’m using these on my future challenge vehicle. The pound of wire is multiple feet from Harbor freight for $9..... sure beats $0.20/ for E36 M3ty hose clamps or $2 for t bolt clamps...
I have one an almost never use it except on fuel injection line inside the Ducati gas tank. A real pain to do the few inside the tank but worm clamps don't seem to work well there and the pinch clamps normal used with injection don't fit do to the Ears blocking the o-ring to tank seal area.
