I autocross with a SCCA group so I need to come up with a class to run my car in next year. (1993 Miata with a 5.0 Ford/T-5/Thunderbird rear diff). So the obvious answer is RTU (road tire unlimited, PAX of 1.0 and allows all cars not otherwise classed and must run 200 TW tires). EM which would require Hoosiers to be even slightly competitive, but I got out of my last car because changing tires all the time is a hassle and purple crack gets expensive.
What else? Can I make an argument to run CAM-S since all the driveline is American made?
XP is where the local v8 Miata runs
EM or XP seems to be where all the V8 swapped RX7s run, and I was just gonna go wherever had the most competition with mine, regardless of PAX. I'm assuming a V8 Miata should be classed similarly. Hadn't heard of this RTU business, though. That sounds like it might be a good option, as HoHos aren't in my immediate future either.
CAM classing is based on the car, not the driveline, so no luck there.

I've also heard of local clubs calling it STO (street tire open). It's just a "run what you brung" class for people who enjoy driving but have no desire to chase National tour fame.
We call it Cookie Class. Run what you brung. Raw time only, no pax. The winner brings cookies to the next event.
I hadn't heard of RTU, either. That's awesome! Perfect for "whatever you can live with as a street car without calling you a mutant because your engine and chassis make don't match or you changed suspension pickup points."
I also don't find any SCCA sign of it in a quick search, but maybe it just hasn't propagated yet?
Since I'm hoping to bring the Rampage to AX next year to get it dialed in for the Challenge I'll need to work this out too.

The SEB is proposing allowing cross-brand engine swaps in Street Mod, although you have to take a 150lb penalty. I would wager that the T5 and 302 are already your 150lb penalty.

I'd heard that. Unfortunately Miatai go to SSM which is an aero and Hoosiers class.
Ashyukun: bring it out and run RTU with me. We usually have 5-10 cars in the class so it's pretty well populated. It's interesting to see how many different setups people can come up with and still run similar times.
