But seriously, My cousin and I have access to an uncommonly good Starlet. I've seen these made extremely fast, but it's not like I need another project for a couple of years. We- and a couple of other friends are considering doing the Lemons thing, but the car is almost too nice for that. But then it's a fu---Ng Starlet we're talking about. Not some sort of super-cool classic.
Two questions: what's it worth? And what do you deviates think that we should do about it?
Keep it looking mostly stock and swap in 20v 4age.
Give it to me!
Or do what I posted here..

Way over Lemons budget, but I saw a wrecked Nissan Maxima with the VQ35 and 6-speed manual the other day. Can you say middie? ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/googly-18.png)

Actually in a lot of ways I like the more easily accomplished 4age idea better, but the VQ makes for a good wet dream anyway. So what's a clean-low-mileage barn find (Hasn't run in 5 years) Starlet worth anyway?
I found a fairly nice one today on c-list for 850$. But I have seen them go for 3500$ with the 4age swap. Problem there is the t50 trans. It doesn't like abuse.

Check out Japanese Nostalgic Car forum. They have a bit of a cult following iirc. If you can turn a nice profit, flip it. If not, drop a rotary in it.
I'm a big fan of Starlets, they can indeed be made quite fast with the insertion of a 4AG but also don't discount the original. It's been a while but I seem to recall that the K series came in sizes up to 1700cc. The cars are very light (1600lb?) so 125hp or so would make one go pretty decent. Find a limited slip, anti-sway bars, upgraded brakes, decent dampers and big bore motor. All of the goodies are bolt on parts, I can't remember if its all Corolla parts or a mix of Corolla and Celica parts but either way pretty easy to swap out.
Tom
It's a mix of ae86 and mx Cressida parts.
How about a pic?
When I got my Starlet from an impound auction, my friends joked it was the only Starlet I'd been in since I moved to LA.
So put it in storage in a barn or a shed and "rescue" it in a few years...![](/media/img/icons/smilies/wink-18.png)
