My 1997 Miata with tan interior has seat belts that don't smell fresh and also tend to leave tan marks on clothes, especially if the belts are damp.

Is there a good way to clean seatbelts?

I just dilute simple green and gently brush in, then use a damp cloth to wipe clean and a dry one to get as much of the water out as possible.

I don't know if it's technically correct or not, but I avoid SG on seatbelts because of the alkalinity. I prefer Dawn. I also use towels instead of brushes in order to try to be easy on the webbing.

If they can be removed from the car easily, just clean them in a bucket with soap and water. Then you can hang them out to dry. Dawn will work, I've used Era laundry detergent with good results.
