Clever street names?

Just got back from a business trip to Traverse City, MI and noticed on a map that their airport is located on Fly Don't Dr. which drew some chuckles from our group.

That said, what clever/ funny street names have you seen?

There's a street in one of the southern suburbs of Minneapolis-St. Paul called Lois Lane. My office is across the street from Seagate (where they manufacture hard drive for computers); the road leading into their facility is One Disk Drive.

Near me is Robert E Lee, which is a dead end

Tilton Racing is on Easy St.

where I used to work … Bussman (Cooper industries, our division made fuses) street name … Fuse Dr.

I live next to Berkeley Road.

There is an easy st. and a leisure ln. near me. There is also a Gasoline Alley in Speedway that is an actual street near IMS. Tony Stewart Racing and several other racing related business are on it.

Around here there are a number of streets that are named for companies that are located on the street. The best one is English Muffin Way, home of the Thomas's English Muffin factory.

And some are just confusing. The Frederick County Board of Education is located on the corner of East South Street and South East Street.

Near my house there is "Winners Circle" (and yes, it's a circle).

Also I like the (state-maintained) street in Sterling, VA where Orbital Sciences Corp. is located: Warp Drive.

Apple's HQ is on Infinite Loop, which I've always enjoyed.

Also in Michigan, I work on Big Beaver, which is exit 69 on I-75.

There used to be a Kraft processing plant near here, somebody built a subdivision down the street. So there's Velveeta Dr, Gouda Dr, and Miracle Dr.

near where I grew up was an unpaved road everyone just called "dirt road" when they finally improved it, it kept the name officially..

And remember, I work in Atlantic City, where monopoly got all it's street names from..

in Southbury CT. Poverty lane

The plat I live in has all the names based on obscure European cars - only they weren't so obscure in 1968, when it was all built.

I live on Citroen St. There's also a Renault St., Abarth St. (Renault, not Plymouth) Caravelle St, Hillman Av., Anglia St., Aston St., Cortina Av., Ferrari St., and Consul Av.

I had a conversation once with a city manager about street names. When a new housing development is built, the developer picks the names; sometimes they name them after their children, sometimes they just pull names out of a hat, sometimes they name them after some hobby or personal interest. For example, I know of one housing development around here where all the streets are named after semiprecious minerals, and another where all the streets are named after WWII battles (Guadalcanal Street and so on.)

There's a Stoner Ave here in Tucson. They have added extra bits to try and stop people from stealing them all the time...

Theres also a Lois Lane, there is an El Burrito Ave that makes me chuckle when I see it. There is also El Diablo Sunrise Dr which would be cool so say you live on.

Intuit has a plant that's on Innovation Dr. One of the Raytheon plants in town is on Hughes Access Rd.

San Francisco has Uranus Terrace. Really.

Yup, my uncle did some real estate development so my cousins have their own street names. I take a lot of addresses as part of my work, and you can always tell when the street names were chosen by real estate agents. Shady Creek Lane, Morning Acres Dr etc.

Ottawa has an Elvis Lives Lane, it's right behind the old HQ of the international Elvis sighting society. We also have Funny Little Street in Grand Junction.

In the north portion of Metro Columbus Ohio, near Alum Creek in Delaware County.
Pronounced locally as "Three B's and a K"

There's a new-ish subdivision near Middletown,DE where all the streets are named after Grateful Dead songs or albums. I forget the development name, but it fits the theme.

Poverty Road in Southbury was named when it was predominantly a farming community. That area was known to have poor soil quality.

There have been many discussions about how the names of certain sections of our town were derived. The one getting the most recent attention has been "Poverty Road". Viewpoint of our Town Historians:

Joyce Hornbecker: Recently an article appeared in the Waterbury Republican & American entitled, "Is Poverty Road a poor choice for a name?" My response is NO, as it was an appropriate name given to the area by the early settles because of its conditions, which I will explain. I sincerely hope that the information that I am going to provide will encourage support to retaining this name for all three streets currently known as Poverty Road, North Poverty Road and Old Poverty Road.

The early settlers of what is now known as Southbury, tended to name areas because of their physical conditions or events that occurred there. As for Poverty Roads - first I must mention that there are different definitions for the word "poverty". The American Heritage dictionary has an actual listing of "poverty grass" with a definition, "any of several North American grasses that grow in poor or sandy soil". And the Webster dictionary lists under "poverty", a definition of "poverty of the soil". So, I believe that these ground conditions which related to the lack of being able to grow and provide items for the feeding of animals and families caused them to name the area Poverty. And, if you look at Southbury's 1868 map you will see a large area labeled Poverty.

On the neighborhood front, there's a subdivision near my brothers house where all the streets are named after Lord of the Rings characters. My uncle lives off of Elrond drive

I also have a friend that lives a few blocks from the intersection of Grinn street and Barret lane.
