So the breaking news from Geneva is that the new Porsche 991 GT3 sports a paddle-shift gearbox instead of the venerable 6-speed manual. Before you cry foul, listen to how extensively it's been redeveloped to suit the character of the GT3:

"It's more fun, and more involving than a manual. We needed a way to disengage the clutch completely and to let it go again, to simulate letting go with the foot, a clutch kick. So that's what we did with the paddles. So that's the doughnut mode, we call it. Everything you can do with a normal manual, you can do with that, too."

Hell yes. Maybe I won't kick and scream so loud when they finally take away my manual transmission.

By the way, Porsche's PDK can read your mind.

By the way Andreas Preuninger speaks, it is apparent that there are two schools of thought within Porsche. I'm glad he saw it through to make sure that the GT3 remained "an emotional driving experience".

Sounds like it has a clutch button, like Forza.

I need to learn the British accent so I can get a cool job like this.

I need to finish programming my button for CVT transmissions that drops the revs a bit to make it sound like you are shifting really fast. Then you can really have those fast and furious shifting moments of 18 gear shifts in a minute.
