Scary isnt it? Its why I stopped subscribing to a major local newspaper years ago. I can get all the bad info I want for free from the internet...
Why do they even report on this? Nobody really needs to know about nitrous and they fail reported it. I mean I can understand them covering, you know, actual News then failing like CNN with the boston bombers but Nitrous? Why did they feel this was necessary to begin with? They wanted a fail of the year?

I wouldn't say this. It's like this for anything even slightly scientific though and it's been like that, it's laymen covering a subject and trying to lay it out in laymen's terms. You should see the coverage on the "god particle" it's ridiculous, every news outlet unless it's a science website clearly has no idea yet still choose to talk about it.
They need to stick to news that has a story, not something where they are just describing anything that is remotely a scientific process.
Saying news outlets report every story like this is just conspiracy theory. It's just anything that has no "story" to it and is only logical or scientific in nature. Regular news stories are usually filled with emotional appeal but the facts are still there.
lol I bet that happens twice as often with that NOS brand energy drink.

Yea, probably......can we hunt down the 2 guys in the video with pitchforks and torches yet? They don't need to be allowed to report on anything mechanical.
If that pictures doesn't make you want to add Nitrous to your car, nothing will.

I thought his A/C condenser failed. Probably went after he lost the manifold.

I guess that means nothing will make me want to add it to my car.

They were just down the street from where I work, but recently moved (still in Lubbock, though).

I'd rather put it in the glovebox so it's there when I need it. Or in my pocket so I can use it on my bicycle.
it's common courtesy to put the purge in the grill. the belair gets oohs and ahhhs at the track when a 59 year old 4 door sedan purges happy gas out the grill.
Does Nitrous Oxide Systems know those guys are misusing their name?

free publicity is free publicity.. they paid Vin Diesel to misuse their name in that movie about a Charger that does wheelies and burnouts at the same time and "10 second cars" that take 3 minutes to cover a quarter of a mile...

I had a A/C Condenser in my trans am fail at a red light. Some redneck in a truck next to me was like "damn boy purgin' that nitrous at a red light on a tuesday? work must be rough" while I was breathing in that non-toxic r-34.

Every story I have ever seen where I have known anything about the subject has had an incredible amount of incorrect information. I am not talking about a disagreement in ideology, but actual factually incorrect information.

I think MrJoshua is correct. Repeated glaring errors in so many tech stories point to an underlying lack of concern for accuracy among not only the reporters who put these together but the editors and producers who release it unchecked. It is fairly easy to find technically literate people in almost every field to prevent such drivel from going public but they are obviously not being used. I wont speculate as to why this occurs but it does and has for years. Maybe its related to the fact that news = entertainment today.
Few news stories include bios of the author, references, or some universal and unbiased grading scale of fact to fantasy to help the reader/viewer judge the potential for its accuracy. From the above and lacking references I will assume every story may be similarly flawed, and if it is indeed accurate it is a happy accident.
And to be clear, I am not referring to any political leanings that bias reporting or result in judgements or editorializing by the reporter(s). I dont agree with this either unless it is clearly labeled an editorial, but this seems to be a hallmark of many "news" outlets today so it is reality and at least I can choose to exclude that source from my reading/viewing if I dont want to hear their opinion.
Just me bein' part of the in-crowd.
