Featured over on the Classic Motorsports site and soon crossing the Broad Arrow auction block: Wild looks with power to match: Porsche 911 Turbo Koenig.
Totally remember when this was a thing. Good Miami Vice bad guy car, too.

I have a big soft spot for '80s high-end tuner cars. Koenig, DP, Gemballa, pre-factory AMG, Schnitzer, Callaway, RUF. Cool to see that stuff that survived in good shape getting respected by the marketplace.
The second photo in that article is really messing with my head. It looks like the perspective is of a smaller version of the car that's nose-down in aquarium quartz or something. I cannot reconcile the view from the windshield; what is going on there?
In reply to Colin Wood :
OMG. I have never seen a car with a gold leather interior. That's incredible. 10/10. Would go club hopping in that. If I was 20 years younger.

It's the Classic Motorsports entry into the Model Car of the Month... Fantastic attention to detail.
Ooof. I didn't like these then, and I still don't. Looks so, so chintzy to me.
Other than the wheels, I love wide small diameter wheels.
I'll see myself out so ya'll can enjoy without my vibes. :)
I remember the garishness of the 80s abominations fondly, it was if style and and common sense went on a year long bender.
It was a clear message that there were no rules.

That but with some lights in the bumper.
There were so many 911 Targas that got the Targa bar cut off and made into a "911 Cabrio"
Add a fiberglass slant nose kit and wide rear fenders with "Running boards" and a massive whale tail and you were the Cool guy at the Disco :)
White sports coat required !

I think the big part of the 80s is that outlandishness trumped smooth flowing lines.
If it was outlandish, it was cool.

Porsche actually had instructions on how to do the cabrio conversion, before they started building them in-house in 1983.
The Targa to Cabriolet conversion booklet is Porsche part #WKD 451 620.
This thread has me longing for the Robb Report magazine of the 1980s. It's back of book, classified section, was all high dollar automotive pornography, like this. I remember it was crazy expensive back in the day like $15 per copy, but my library carried it!
In reply to John Welsh :
I bought a copy or two back in the day..............it was a crushing reminder of how poor I was.
Last fall I was at my local independent repair shop and they were working on a Koenig Mercedes 560sec. Super wide flares, BBS wheels, the whole thing in black. It was pretty awesome.
While looking for an article from Car and Track or somesuch from the 80s that got me wanting to modify cars, I found this site.
Carscoops.com: 10 Modified Exotics From The Crazy 1980s European Tuning Scene
But what really made me want to butcher cars was this baby from 1970, the Thomassima III.
I would never, ever do that to a car. But, if I found one like that, there's no way in Hell I'd change it back.
Evidently cocaine is still flowing freely today in the Carolinas, this just showed up on my news feed: $150,000.
MSN.com: 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Transformed into 1963 Split-Window Coupe Now Available
CarolinaClassicsandMore.com: C2 Conversion of a 1963 Split-Window Coupe on a 2008 C6
vs the real thing.

That thing right there is an abomination worse than any 80s coke fueled custom creation.
