The car in question: my 1980 Mudstain
Despite its rough appearance it is actually really straight and only has the most minor rust. Anyway, it is well past time I paint my first car so help me pick a color!
rules: no black, no white, no silver/gray.
I’m thinking Ford’s own Kona Blue. But what does the hive think? Keep in mind this will be an outside job and done in the cheap, probably only a panel or two at a time since this is my daily.
*disclaimer* votes will be read and counted but the winning vote may be overruled by myself at any time.
Whays the end game here? Just practice, long yerm keeper, etc?
Also, lighter colors yend to hide sins better. So, bright blue or orange are my votes.

End goal is better looks. I’m falling in love with this thing more every day so chances it sticks around a while are looking pretty good. Also I already have an orange car so I’ll chalk that up as a vote for blue.
If it was purely an educational exercise I would have recommended Rust-Oleum. However it sounds like you're going to want to learn with base clear in this instance. But definitely go for blue much like what stampie just posted

What color is the interior?
An early four eye? Metallic Brown.
In reply to STM317 :
Kind of maroon w/ plaid upholstery. It would clash with gulf livery for sure but maybe in a good way?
In reply to Jordan Rimpela :
Yup
The green they used on the Bullitt mustangs that's sort of similar to BRG.

Maroon interiors are tough to match. Maybe some sort of dark metallic purple, like used on later Taurus / Sable models.
Gulf blue on its own without the orange probably wouldn't look too bad with that interior, either.

I think something in the lighter shades of the tan/bronze/copper/gold family would work with a maroon interior.
It seems like metallic might be harder to get a good result with in a driveway but I could be wrong.

Grabber blue with black accents in the factory GT pattern...
GB is not metallic, so you can probably shoot it as a single stage...
Yellow! The brightest yellow you can find. But I'm biased.
Stay away from metallics and pearls if you're going to shoot panels at different times.
