I'm interested in a 2012-15 RWD sedan and these two seem to be readily available between $15-18k with under 40k miles. Have not driven one but I like the specs. Prefer auto trans because Atlanta traffic.

Does anybody have one or have knowledge of these?

I've driven both, owned the IS250. The G25 is much more lively and engaging. The IS250 will be much easier to find. Both have pretty tight backseats, if that matters to you. You'll get better fuel economy out of the IS250, I managed 37mpg on a pure highway stint once, though mixed use typically saw upper 20's

You can get an 11 G37 sedan with 40Kish miles for 18K too. Unless you really want the small slower engine, I'd pass on the G25 and step up to the G37.

I've never felt the G back seat was tight. I can sit behind myself with ease and I'm 6'1 but all legs. I could never do that in the IS250. The IS is a much smaller car.

What the deuce is a "g25"? you guys mean g35? Is there some kinda special model out there? (That would be cool)

The G25 is a lesser version of the G37. Comes with a smaller 2.5L V6. I think it also has fewer options available, but somewhat better fuel economy. Personally, I'd opt for the bigger 3.7L every time. In fact, a G37x is my current pick to replace my Outback later this year.

good info regarding interior dimensions. I'm 6'5 and my 2 boys are growing, so this is relevant..

I thought the G25 was available with the S package, but it apparently isn't. Fuelly also shows similar fuel economy. So maybe G37s makes sense. And on the same logic, maybe I justify waiting a few years for an IS-F

Fwiw, my dad has the g37. He has had a few g25's as courtesy vehicles when his car was in for service, and said he wishes he got the g25. He said it was more fun around town since he had to work it harder. I'm sure any mpg advantages were lost with him driving it like that, but probably relevant to a lot of folks here.

I don't think you will fit someone behind you in an IS if you at 6'5". It's a really small car inside. I would test fit one just to see before even thinking it was a possibility. I found it smaller than my old Mazda 3 when I was shopping.

From the official measurements, there is more than 4 inches more rear leg room in the G.

Wow that's crazy

As if it needs to be said again.. The IS is pretty dang small in back. Also the g25 makes a lot less sense when the new-car price difference between that and the big-dog engine has shrunk to almost nothing.

I'm guessing you've already discounted the Cadillac CTS/ATS?

In reply to RossD:

Indeed. I have a friend with a CTS and it's a nightmare. My brother owned an STS and it was a nightmare. No thank you.

I'd go IS250 due to being a gussied up luxo Toyota.

The ATS is also a nightmare. As is the XTS. And the SRX. If it has the Caddy badge, avoid it.
