Option A: Another Disco. Spoke with the owner today. It "runs rough," of course. Could probably grab it for $500 and my brother and I could have #twinkiediscos ...or at least a parts car.

Option B: This badass motherberkeleyer with 35" mudders.
https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/6112960910.html
Nuclear option: I'm full-retard for this lifted Astro. Aside from leaky intake gaskets, how bad could it be!?!?

WWGRMD???
PS: I berkeleying hate imgur. Jesus christ on a berkeleying stick, I just wanna post these goddamned pics.
I'd like the Safari more without the rake. Should have gone 5/5 instead of 5/7
Twinkiedisco option 1.
Muddy yota option 2.
Safari in the sky option 3.
Muddy Yota would be my choice. IT's the most expensive but it's also looking like the best sorted of the 3 options.
Safari but level it out. At that mileage the intake gaskets are likely replaced.

I agree. Fix that and the Safari is the best if those.
Something doesn't smell right with that Toyota, maybe throw out a low-ball offer? Be prepared to fix something expensive on right afterwards.

A disco with a toasted engine and salvage title - what could go wrong?
Of the three I like the Astro/Safari but without the giant crease in the side
I know 4.0L jeep is "the answer," but I refuse to be like the "other kids."
Having owned both an Astro van and a 4Runner, the Yota has my vote. The Astro was good at a lot of things, but there was no friggin' room for my left foot, like at ALL.
Protip: Pics on craigslist are already hosted, so all you really need to do is click on the pic to open it in it's own tab/window/whatever and grab the link from that page. No need to involve imgur or photosieve.

I got eyes for that Toyota.
Looks like you could rock your right foot and bounce that Astro into a monster truck wheelie.
I vote Astro. As is. Maybe add nitrous.
Id buy the toyota, but its your wallet so my vote is safari and see how fast the ten bolt explodes.

If you get the Disco I'll send you a different transfer case lever that will let you lock the center diff from in the car. Only the 99s and some 00s had this until it was added back for the 04 models. I never had the chance to install it in my 99 Disco and it has been sitting in the garage for a few years now.
Those gen 4Runners are as bad on head gaskets as Discos are. I've done headgaskets both on my Disco and 88 Toyota 3.0.
I loved my astro. So that gets my vote.
But it needs a team paint.

Ya but along with the hg you will be replacing the whole motor due to the dropped liner in the disco

Why I ended up with an Xterra. 7k got me an '06 (this was a few years ago) with 130k, new 33"s, etc. That same 7k would have gotten me a late 90s 4runner in far worse shape...

The disco with whatever American v8 truck 4x4 system swapped in that you prefer that puts the front drive shaft on the correct side of the drivetrain for the stock Disco front axle.
The Discovery is the dumbest, Also the coolest. So do that.
Mercedes diesel swap to make it more dumb.

Yeah I don't understand the hype. I'm seeing more of them for sale with blown head gaskets, so don't give me that legendary Toyota reliability bull crap.
And they're all in sorry shape. Even the "clean" ones.
