Well I bought my RX-7 from the original owner some 7 years ago, and just recently visited his place again with the car to show him that it is still in one piece. It was a total surprise to him, and he was quite delighted to see the car again after all these years. In our talking I mentioned that I have every issue of the old Rotary Rocket magazine from the RX-7 Club of America from another RX-7 owner that I purchased another car from a couple of years ago.
The original owner of my car mentioned that if I look through then I should find a pic or two of my car with the original vanity license plate he had on it that said ROTARY. He actually still had the plates when I bought the car from him, but they had expired, and since been taken by another person here in MA. He gave me one of the old plates(the rear), and I still have it hanging on my wall in the garage. So I was messing around today, and thought I would get out the old binders with the magazines in them. Sure enough there was a section of the magazine it seemed every few months that showed pics of two or so vanity plates, and the background was an array of others. Wouldn't you know my car is in every array with a shot of the back plate that I still have, and the plastic plate surround that is still on the car to this day! Also in text below is the original owners name, vanity plate text, and town. It was so cool to see a magazine from 79 that has pictures of my car in it!
I took a few pics of it,and loaded them to photobucket, but I am brand new to that site, so I am unsure how to link it with pics showing up here. I will just provide a link to my album, and maybe someone can show me how to do it some day.

Just roll your mouse over the photo in your photobucket gallery you want to link so the links show up below it. Click on the link that says "direct link" and it will say copied. Then click the camera icon above the post box here and paste the link.
The best RX-7 license plate that I ever saw was "GAS-OIL".
Wow, that's your RX7? I saw that thing a few months ago when I was getting gas up the street from my house. VERY clean!!!
Great story too about the plate. At least you know who the original owner is. I wish I knew the original owners of my project cars. I would love to ask them some questions about some of the modifications done to them, especially my Trans Am.
That's awesome. I knew only a little history on my '80, but this is cooler.
IMHO that is the best model Rx7 for looks... they were perfect
Thanks Evan, I appreciate your help
No problem. The car looks fantastic by the way, I love that color.
Semi-rare color, as it was only made in 79 on the RX-7. Code is Spark Yellow (YU), and I love it as well.
The wheels look great. I love period correct wheels.
Nice Chris, car is really looking good too
i had one that color. wife described it as "lemon yogurt".
Wow it is lemon yogurt!!! Never thought of that before.

In the same issues of Rotary Rocket I saw several ads for these very wheels. I suppose they were hot back in the day, but I almost never see them anymore.
That is an awesome story!!! Very nice FB BTW!
SA, man, SA. Get it right!!!!!

Haha, people hate when I correct them!
Those Weds look great on the RX-7! I gotta get back down there sometime. I've driven the REPU but I don't think I've even heard the SA fired up.

I don't care either way, I just felt like busting some balls. JT should know better as well.
It's funny seeing people on boards in other countries calling what we would call an FB, an SA as they never had the FB in the VIN throughout the run of 78-85.

The sound of the RX-7 is pure sex compared to the tinny exhaust of the REPU!!
I have heard the RX7 and it is sweet.
Most other countries name the RX7 by series, this would be a series 1, my 84 is a 3, 4 & 5 are 2nd gen and 6 is pure sex
Hello, I am looking for an issue of RRM that you might have. My car "Wilma" (#81)was on the cover of one of the 1980's editions. Would it be possible for me to get a digital version if you have it?
Let me know.
Thanks!
Geoff
You mean this issue?
If so I will have to figure out how to get the magazines out of the crazy Rotary Rocket binders they are in, and I will work on scanning them.
Chris

Thats it! What issue is it? If you could get a digital version of the cover and its article that would be awesome!!!!! Is that a possibility?
Let me know if you see any references to IMSA driver Rick Weldon in any of those RR magazines. I'd love to surprise him with a digital copy.
