Here's a link to a pretty cool picture sequence of me autocrossing in Daytona last Sunday. In this sequence, I'm rounding a big 180 in third gear, clipping an apex, then braking hard and downshifting to second for a tight right-hand turn. This is the final shot in the sequence:

Is it just me or the angle of the shots but it looks like a lot of the cars are turning late and not clipping th apex.
Of course I wasn't there.
Anyway, nice shots.
If you took the big left-hand 180 at too high a speed, it would put you in for an early apex on the following right hander. You could see a lot of cars doing exactly that in the photos. The correct line was to double-apex the 180, sacrificing a little speed through the second half of the left to set up the right better. As a result, I could take the 180 in third gear while many were taking it in second.
Here's an arial view of the course. The 180 in the picture sequence is at the bottom center of the picture below.

You have NO idea. The only place for our local club to autocross is 120 feet wide by about 280 feet long, with a single access point.
No slaloms? It's like a BMW course!
this is my cool picture sequence.... I got a wee bit overzealous
heading into PIRs "festival curves"

Nice 360, but you're on the wrong side of the pointer cone at the exit.

Actually, it's tighter than it looks on the arial shot. Since its a kart track, the road isn't very wide, so its mostly second gear. Still a ton of fun, and its cool to watch the club racing cars zip by on the banking. The big GT-1 cars are particularly impressive.
