The SHO posted is a second gen (mechanically similar to the first gen, but available with an automatic).
This is a first gen (the grille is from the Taurus Police package):

Coolest? Well this then!
Feather back the hair, rock out to the Loverboy 8-track, and hang feathered roach-clips from the rear-view mirror. The Kid is Hot Tonight!

^This x1000. The RS2 is my #1 lottery winnings purchase
Modern
Maserati Quattroporte GTS (I had a hard time deciding between the Maserati, Aston and Jaguar XFR)
Retro
Jaguar XJ6R (last of the straight six Jags, first of the supercharged modern ones) (this one was close with the MB 560SEL AMG)
Vintage
Jaguar MKII cause they were a favorite of bank robbers and touring car drivers.
Or the Mercedes 300SEL 6.3

I'm freely mixing and matching visual and performance coolness. I figure each generation varies enough that it doesn't really make sense to compare them. I was roughly thinking of "antique (pre-1950)" "vintage (1950-1970)" "retro (1970-1990)" and "modern (1990-present)" as my totally subjective categories
This question cannot be answered. The two words are mutually exclusive. There are no cool four door cars, period. The Impala SS and first gen CTS-V are four door cars that I can live with. Everything else listed may as well be wearing thick glasses, pocket protectors and a bow tie.
It may be pretty close to a one off but one of the 4 doors that 'grabbed me' the hardest was the Ferrari 456 wagon.
Current XJR and Quattroporte GTS are extremely beautiful cars.
AMG Hammer or convertible Continental are the coolest.

Me too & I totally agree.
Sorta surprised that no one has mentioned the 80s era turbo Bentleys.

+1 to this^
I was totally about to post a 4 door 510 when I scrolled down and saw your pic!
A 1st gen Cressida is pretty sweet too.

Semantics. All of the V6-powered SHOs are first-gen to me, as are all Tauri from 86-95. Second-gen SHOs are the V8-powered models on the DN101 chassis.
And I chose that pic because it's the same as the 93 I had back when it was new.
